52.3 PERCENT OF VOTERS VOTE FOR DINO MELAYE’S RECALL
Embattled Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaiye, who recently escaped alleged assassination attempt during a rally in Lokoja, Kogi state, is on the verge of being recalled as 52.3 percent of voters in Kogi West have voted for his recall, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday, June 21.
According to reports, the percentage of the petition for the recall of the senator was 55.7 percent in Yagba West, 54.8 percent in Lokoja, 52.77 percent in Kogi, 52 percent in Yagba East, 51.8 percent in Ijumu, 50.4 percent in Mopa/Moro and 46.7 percent in Kabba/Bunu.
With these votes, INEC is expected to notify the embattled senator that the people of his constituents want him recalled, after which the Senator must vacate his position as Kogi West senator.
If this happens, history will be made, as this would be the first time that a sitting Nigerian senator would be recalled by his constituents.
