US-BASED NIGERIAN RAPPER SAUCE KID BAGS 2 YEARS IN PRISON FOR IDENTITY THEFT

Days after Nigerian pop star Dammy Krane was charged with fraud in the US, US-based Nigerian rapper Sauce Kid, whose real name is Babalola Falemi, has been sentenced to two years in jail for identity theft in the US.

Sauce Kid, who pleaded guilty to identity theft, was also accused of stealing more than $15,000 with stolen credit card numbers he used in withdrawing money from ATMs in Boise and Meridian.

The 32-year old rapper was reportedly arrested at the Boise Airport while he was about to board a flight, being found with a credit card encoding machine with which he had allegedly encoded stolen bank card numbers on blank bank cards to withdraw money from ATMs.

Sauce Kid was then charged with conspiracy to commit bank fraud, eight counts of bank fraud and aggravated identity theft as well as possession of several fraudulent bank cards.

All the charges, except for that of aggravated identity theft for which he pleaded guilty, were later dropped.

However, this is not the first time Sauce Kid is being accused of a crime in the US, as he was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm and for forgery in 2013, his mugshot circulating online.
