Ubi Franklin steps up with superb Land Cruiser
The founder and Chief Executive Officer of Made Men Music group, Ubi Franklin, is arguably a heartthrob to many, and the reasons are obvious. Beyond his good looks, he is a successful entrepreneur, being the owner of a thriving record label in the country.
Expectedly and like many of his colleagues, Ubi enjoys the good things of life. He has in his garage Range Rover Autobiography and Mercedes Benz C300 4matic, but recently, he bought the 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser sport utility vehicle, which costs millions of naira in the auto market.
If you’re in the market for a large SUV that’s distinguished for both high-end luxury and superb off-road capability, it’s hard to beat the automotive icon, Land Cruiser.
This three-row sport utility vehicle is refined on the highway, roomy enough to hold a crew of eight, and very reliable. And till date, there have been no safety recalls, which emphasises Toyota’s history of outstanding reliability.
It has a multi-terrain select mode that allows you to tailor the suspension to various terrain types, a multi-view camera to see surrounding obstacles and crawl control, which automatically maintains throttle and braking at a low speed.
The 2017 Land Cruiser features an interior that is nicer than the average Toyota, with top-quality materials and lots of high-tech items. And of course, it has a wealth of apps to keep you entertained and informed.
Travelling in the Land Cruiser is fun as the rear entertainment system ensures that other passengers have plenty to keep them occupied as well while front seats have ample cushioning and support for all-day comfort.
Powering the 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser is a 5.7-liter V8 that produces 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels, while a two-speed transfer case allows you to configure the drivetrain for cruising the highway or crawling along a slippery road at a walking pace.
Other hardware that enhances off-road performance includes Toyota’s Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, which decouples the stabiliser bars for greater wheel articulation, Multi-Terrain Select, which adjusts stability and traction control settings to specific road surfaces, as in dirt, mud or snow, a five-speed crawl control, hill start assist and off-road Turn Assist, which applies brakes to the inside wheels in a corner to make a tighter turn.
The Environmental Protection Agency estimates fuel economy at 13 miles per gallon in the city, 18mpg on the highway and 15mpg in combined driving.
The 2017 Land Cruiser is offered in one fully loaded trim. Standard features include 18-inch cast aluminum wheels, automatic LED headlights, automatic high beams, LED running lights and foglights, power-folding and auto-dimming outside mirrors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a sunroof, roof rack, rear spoiler, rocker-sill passenger steps, underbody skid plates, a tow hitch receiver with wiring harness, adaptive cruise control and keyless entry.
Within the cabin, you get four-zone automatic climate control, a universal garage-door opener, leather upholstery, power-adjustable seats, telescoping steering wheel and a 120-volt household power outlet.
Standard technology features include a nine-inch infotainment touchscreen, navigation system with Toyota’s Entune app suite, wireless phone charging pad, proximity key entry, push-button start, Bluetooth phone and streaming audio, surround-view camera system, with selectable front, side and rear views of the exterior, rear-seat DVD entertainment system with two screens, HDMI input, two wireless headphones, a 14-speaker JBL audio system with a CD player, satellite and HD radio, Siri Eyes Free control and USB-iPhone input.
