The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, (LAUTECH) which had been under lock for several months as lecturers protest may soon be over as Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki intervenes
The lecturers went on strike to protest non -payment of salaries, allowances and pensions.
Lecturers in the institution under the Academic Staff Union of Universities insist the government owes them N8 billion in arrears.
The Senate President in an effort to end the strike met with students of the institution to discuss the possibility of resolving the problem at the shortest possible time.
In the meeting which was aired live on the Facebook page of the President of the Senate, Saraki promised to get to the bottom of the matter and ensure the school resumes academic activities.
Saraki’s intervention has generated mixed reactions as some people praise it while others criticised it saying it was done merely to score political points.
