Senator Isiaka Adeleke who represents Osun West in the upper legislative chamber has died.

The veteran politician died of a heart attack at Bikets Hospital in Osogbo, Osun state in the early hours of Sunday, April 23, 2017.

The 62-year old former Osun state governor reportedly complained of a slight stomach ache after returning from a function on Saturday, after which he was rushed to Biket Hospital, only for him to die of a heart attack in the early hours of the following day.

Rumour has been going round that the senator was poisoned during the function he attended on Saturday – a political meeting during which he looked very healthy before he complained of the stomach ache.

The body of the late senator was returned to the hospital for an autopsy to confirm if he was indeed poisoned.

On Monday, April 24, the remains of the late senator was buried amidst protest carried out by people who were convinced that the late senator was poisoned to prevent him from contesting in 2018 gubernatorial elections.

Nigerians have taken to social media to pay tribute to the late senator, including the senator’s nephew, pop star Davido.

Senator Isiaka Adeleke who was the first Governor of Osun state, later on, became a Senator in 2007 under the umbrella of People Democratic Party (PDP).

In 2015, he crossed over to All Progressive Congress (APC) where he was re-elected into the senate.

May his soul rest in peace.
