Nigerian gospel artistes treated as royals abroad –Okposo
Leading gospel musician, Sammy Okposo, has said that Nigerian gospel artistes are usually treated as kings and queens in foreign lands.
Making the remarks in Lagos during a chat with Saturday Beats, the ‘Wellu Wellu’ crooner, who is part of a star-studded cast headlining this year’s Unusual Praise music festival taking place soon, said that as a result of the rich blend of Nigerian gospel songs, proponents of the genre are always treated with respect and love in other countries of the world whenever they visited.
He said, “I have been to many countries around the world and it is always so special to see the way they accept Nigerian gospel songs. They treat us like kings and queens because of the message in our songs and how they glorify the name of God.
“For me, this goes to show how relevant our songs are and how people want to associate with the way Nigerians praise God.
“Therefore, this year’s Unusual Praise is going to be another great avenue to sell our mode of worship to the world and ultimately glorify our creator in a truly special way.” Punch
