NIGER DELTA MILITANTS ORDER NORTHERNERS OUT OF THE NIGER DELTA REGION
A coalition of Niger Delta militants called the Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators has ordered Nigerian northerners to leave the Niger Delta region before October 1, 2017, in retaliation for the October 1 eviction notice the coalition of Northern Nigerian Youths gave to the Igbos resident in northern Nigeria.
The Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators which includes members of several Niger Delta groups such as the Niger Delta Warriors, the Niger Delta Freedom Mandate, the Niger Delta Volunteers, the Niger Delta Movement for Justice and several gave the order in a statement released on Thursday, June 15.
This came after key members of the groups had a meeting in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, June 14.
In addition to the exit of northerners from the Niger Delta region, the group also demands that all oil blocks and oil wells illegally owned by northerners should be vacated before October 1.
The group demands the relocation of NNPC headquarters to the Niger Delta and the replacement of the Group Managing Director of the NNPC with an indigene of the Niger Delta region.
The group also demands the relocation of all offices, boards and agencies that have anything to do with oil and gas as well as the replacement of all non-Niger Delta directors and staff with Niger Delta indigenes.
