The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Umar Imam, resigned on Tuesday night.
According to reports he resigned to avoid impeachment during Wednesday’s plenary session.
Chief Press Secretary to the speaker, Ali Yakubu, who neither denied nor confirmed the development when reached, said there was a proclamation on Tuesday evening convening the assembly for a special sitting on Wednesday.
Mean while hoodlums invaded the house on Tuesday and beat up a member, Elder Friday Sani during a plenary session.
