Abducted Lagos students freed
Six abducted students of the Lagos State Model College, Igbonla, Epe have regained their freedom on Friday.
We gathered that the students were released in Ajakpa Community in Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State and that no ransom was paid for their release.
A senior police officer said the children had been moved to the Ondo State Police Command headquarters in Akure.
According to a source, the abducted students would be taken to the Ondo State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu at the Ondo State Government House Akure, by the security operatives. Meanwhile the Lagos State Government has expressed excitement over the release of the students.
The State’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Steve Ayorinde congratulated the parents of the students and all concerned stakeholders over the development. He also added that the students will undergo series of medical test and trauma therapy before they are reunited with their families.
He assured residents of better security in the state and that security will be beefed up in schools to prevent reoccurrence.
The release of the students is coming 64 days after they were abducted from their school in Epe.
